Industrial Control

Industrial control systems (ICS) encompass several types of control systems used in industrial production. They include supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, distributed control systems (DCS) and process control systems (PCS).

ICS communication protocols and ICS components were traditionally not designed for security. Instead “Security by obscurity” and network isolation (“air gaps”) were deemed to be sufficient.
